Grade V rapids on a dam-released river that runs all year, or a slow tube down the calm stretches. No experience needed for either.
The Nile below Jinja is one of the few genuinely world-class rafting rivers that is also beginner-friendly. Because the flow is dam-released, it runs consistently in every month — there is no bad season, only a bigger or smaller day.
A full day gives you the long run with lunch on the bank; a half day is enough to get thoroughly thrown around and back in time for the afternoon. Safety kayakers ride the whole route, and every raft has a guide who has run these rapids hundreds of times.
If the rapids are not your thing, tubing is the same river at a quarter of the speed — a float through the calm stretches with the bank going past and nothing to do but look at it.
